Hishar Rising Rock

Description

The people of Rising Rock claim to be descendants of the legendary Aryed sen Rysani. After centuries of being nomadic, they say that the Ancient Rysa settled down in the valley of Rising Rock in the northern Mosslands. From there sprang one of the greatest civilizations on Auroras. Even today, the people of Rising Rock valley refer to themselves as the Rysa.

The Rysa (modern) flourished in the fertile Mosslands, and grew and developed their own spirituality. It is their belief that the spirit inhabits and empowers every last point in the body. Because of this, any limitation is seen as surmountable if one has enough strength of spirit. Indeed, their beliefs seem to have some merits; travelers to Rising Rock can bear witness to old withered women performing daily tasks many accomplished warriors from other Hishar would be proud to claim. Interestingly enough, this physical prowess does not seem to be a genetic trait, as demonstrated by the adoption and integration of the infant Tainar Ksa into Rysani society.

Rysani warriors, called Sirasi, are very few in number. Actually, of the Hishar, Rising Rock boasts the smallest standing army. Their numbers largely stem from the fact that though nearly all members of Hishar Rising Rock under military training, very few choose to become dedicated soldiers. The large majority of the Rysa choose more domestic professions, but in war times, there is a saying in Auroras that every man, woman, and child of Rising Rock is a soldier.

Native inhabitants of Rising Rock tend to have a mid to dark skin-tone, especially dark at the hands and feet and mottling up towards a somewhat lighter color partway up each limb in what the Rysani call "Fiyana", Drasyil for "pebbles". Hair color is typically dark brown, though light brown and black hair are not unheard of. Rysani eyes are typically dark brown or amber in color, though it is a common practice to dye newborns' irises with Aksaign exactly three days after birth. This practice results in brilliant and often unnatural eye colors.

Geography

Rising Rock is a large river-valley spanning nearly ten deiuaks from end to end. Though the majority of the area is populated by small villages, there are large population spikes near Isandyir and Lein, two of the three major cities of Rising Rock. The final major city of Rising Rock, and its capital, is called Medros sen Jinai. Though it is a relatively new city, it was named in Drasyil in honor of the old capital Medros sen Yala which was destroyed during the Edaioden War.
