Abjura

"The mage held a flame in hand and looked down at his opponent. 'Any last words?' The young man on the ground only lifted his face to look into the mage's eyes. The fire extinguished itself from the mage's hand. In an instant, everything had become undone. Everything the mage had learned, everything he had practiced, vanished in a single moment. 'Who are you?' the once-mage asked. 'Just a friend,' came the simple reply 'I seem to have taken a bit of a tumble, mind giving me a hand up?'

 

• Stillgaze

The character causes a subject with whom he has locked eyes to fall asleep. Roll Abjura + Manipulation at difficulty 6 versus a passive subject’s Temperance + Awareness at difficulty 7. Upon any number of successes, the subject falls asleep for one scene or until disturbed.

•• Binds of Apathy

Upon locking eyes with a subject, the character causes a great indifference to enter it's mind, causing it to ignore many things which it previously might have investigated. Roll Abjura + Manipulation at difficulty 7. Whenever something happens that would normally cause the subject to become suspicious or agitated, the subject rolls Temperance + Awareness at difficulty 7. If the subject's total successes are less than the number of successes originally rolled for this ability, the disturbance goes undetected. Note that this ability does not cause the subject to become less intelligent or less observant, only to become apathetic to minor disturbances.

••• Everyman's Mask

The character recreates his countenance and figure to be perceived as extremely nondescript and ordinary. Those who see the character must roll Wits + Inspection at difficulty 7 against his Abjura + Performance at difficulty 7 to identify him. Note that this ability does not change the character's appearance, the fact that he may be gigantic and grotesque with three wings and dripping blood does not change; instead, it causes others to perceive this as 'normal'.

•••• Erase

The character erases a part of a target’s memory, starting from the most recent to the ones from years ago. This ability requires the character to lock eyes with the subject. Roll Abjura + Manipulation at difficulty 7 against a subject's Wits + Will of Iron at difficulty 7. Upon one outstanding success, the subject forgets the occurances of the last hour; upon two outstanding successes, the subject forgets the occurances of the last week; three outstanding successes indicates loss of memory from the past month; more successes indicates loss of memory from the past year.

••••• Unlearn

By sheer force of will, the character undoes years of practicing, studying, and training in a subject. This ability requires the character to lock eyes with the subject. Roll Abjura + Manipulation at difficulty 7 against a subject's Scholarship + Will of Iron at difficulty 7. Upon one outstanding success, the subject forgets all skills and abilities for one round; Upon two outstanding successes, the subject forgets all skills and abilities for five rounds; Upon three outstanding successes, the subject forgets all skills and abilities for the remainder of the scene; Upon more outstanding successes, the subject forgets all skills and abilities for a week.
